Open at the core

Financial capabilities,
with clear boundaries.

Your banking model should determine how technology comes together. Firefly organizes financial capabilities into focused services, with explicit boundaries between experiences, applications, domains, and core operations.

Your implementation connects those services to customer channels, operational tools, and external providers. Product rules, data migration, infrastructure, and operating controls are defined for your particular business and environment.

What is Firefly core banking?

Firefly is a modular, open-source core banking platform with projects for accounts, ledger, payments, cards, lending, and shared enterprise services. Firefly Software developed the platform; the Firefly Software Foundation develops and maintains open-source initiatives across the ecosystem.

Can we explore a specific capability first?

Yes. The platform is organized into individual services and domain projects. Start with a business use case, review the relevant repositories, and map their dependencies before deciding the implementation scope.

Where are the source code and documentation?

The source projects live in the firefly-oss GitHub organization. Each repository contains its own documentation and configuration. Our getting-started guide helps you choose an entry point.

How is the software licensed?

The core repositories linked here publish Apache-2.0 licenses. Always review the license and dependency notices in each repository you intend to use; the company website and every project in the wider ecosystem do not necessarily share one license.

How does Firefly relate to Firefly Framework?

The core banking platform contains financial business capabilities. Firefly Framework provides application frameworks and shared engineering patterns. They are distinct parts of the wider Firefly ecosystem. Explore Firefly Framework.
